Glen Magna Farms Apple Day.  Thank you to the wonderful people in our community who helped plant history by creating a apple orchard on May 16h 2015.

A Child, an Apple Tree, and a Memory

On Saturday May 16^th at 1:30 the Danvers Historical Society will host the planting of small apple tree saplings in the south meadow at Glen Magna Farms.  Take some pictures and videos; watch your child create a memory by planting an apple tree. 

Matthew Martin, the buildings and grounds Restoration Manager for the Danvers Historic Society is calling on parents and children to share in a wonderful afternoon in helping bring this beautiful orchard from the past alive once again!

Come to Glen Magna, bring your planting gloves, a small shovel and pail and plant a memory that you can visit over and over again. Watch a young sapling grow into a majestically delicious apple tree, that for many years to come, they will proudly announce “I planted this tree, isn’t it beautiful!”  Each tree will be labeled with the planters name for all to bear witness to their wonderful work. 

Our sincere gratitude goes out to the Bartlett Tree Company for their generous contribution of 100 apple tree saplings.  What we don’t plant, Mathew will make them available to the children to take home.  While they last!

Mathew speaks for all of us, children and parents when he says:

“When a child plants a piece of nature into the ground, it becomes a lesson learned that can be applied to any aspect in life: that everything we do in life should have meaning and value; nature is a wonderful classroom, learning how things grow and using one’s hands in its formation is an incredible experience. For me, it is amazing to watch a child, in that moment of pride, when they realize they have created something of value and that what they have accomplished matters!”

So please come and join us for wonderful family afternoon on the beautiful grounds of Glen Magna, take your shoes off and feel the grass under your feet, bask in the sun, and have a great day!
